Mr. Howard A. Johnston Jr., CMAS (Certified Master Anti-Terrorism Specialist) began his career in the Force Protection and Anti-Terrorism industry at a young age. Upon graduating from Bellefontaine High School in 1995, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps at the age of 18 and attended Marine Corps Recruit Training (MCRT) Paris Island, School of Infantry (SOI), and was assigned to Weapons Company, Third Battalion, Second Marines aboard Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. He spent 10 years in the Marine Corps and served with the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit Special Operations Capable (MEUSOC), Range Control at Marine Corps Base Quantico, Quantico, Virginia, and finished his career as a Marine recruiter in Des Moines, Iowa.  Mr. Johnston completed his service in 2005 and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant (E-6).

During his 10 year tenure in the Marine Corps, Mr. Johnston’s billets and accomplishments include leading a personal security detachment (PSD) for the unit commander in various global hostile environments. serving as team leader for a Tactical Recovery of Aircraft and Personnel (TRAP) team, conducting security and search and rescue at the Pentagon following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, and being awarded “Recruiter of the Year” for Marine Corps Recruiting Station, Des Moines, Iowa.

From 2005-2007, Mr. Johnston worked for a local security company in Des Moines, Iowa, where he personally managed over 120 security agents.  In 2007, after the personal call to serve his country in the War on Terror, Mr. Johnston was contracted by the U.S. Government to conduct numerous assignments in the Anti-Terrorism and Force Protection field.  He was first contracted as a Force Protection supervisor at a classified location in the Middle East. After completing the assignment, he spent the next year as a Defensive Tactics Instructor and Close Quarters Marksmanship Instructor for the Iraqi Army and Presidential Guard.

After finishing his assignments in Iraq in 2009, Mr. Johnston began working in Afghanistan as an embedded Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) lead operator in the Korengal Valley, Kunar Province.  Mr. Johnston was in charge of the placement and operations of the ISR equipment at all the combat outposts.  This required him to move outside of friendly lines to the different combat outposts, exposing himself to the enemy, to install the ISR equipment.  On more than one occasion, Mr. Johnston was caught outside friendly lines having to fight alongside the U.S. Military in intense fire fights with enemy fighters.  He prepared weekly intelligence reports for the ground unit command detailing enemy movement in and around the area of operation which aided greatly to the overall success of the U.S. and Afghan forces. During his 15 months in the Korengal Valley, Mr. Johnston received numerous awards for performance from the U.S Military.  On one occasion, he was credited for saving the lives of a U.S. Marine Embedded Tactical Training Team that was ambushed behind enemy lines.  To this day Mr. Johnston is the only civilian contractor ever to be embedded with the Military as an ISR operator in the Korengal Valley.

In 2010, Mr. Johnston worked as an Embedded Tactical Advisor for the Afghan National Army (ANA). During this time he was a NATO’S Weapon’s Instructor training ANA soldiers prior to being forward deployed to operating ANA units fighting the War on Terror in Afghanistan.  After completing this assignment, Mr. Johnston was hired in Iraq as a site manager for an Aerostat Operator Team.  He was directly responsible for relaying “real time” intelligence to the U.S. Military ground forces and ensured his location of responsibility had 360 degree over watch at all times.

As you may see from reading Mr. Johnston’s Bio; he is highly qualified to answer his lifelong call to protect others. Being the CEO of On Point Security Group will allow him to supply unmatched World Security and Anti-Terrorism Services to the local government and community.
